• DESCRIPTION

The dog sweater is easy to make, with beginner knitters in mind.

Using knit and purl stitches, you will create ribbing and it will also introduce you to decreasing and shaping.

This sweater will be super cozy for your dog to wear in the cold weather.

Yarn

3 x skeins of super bulky/super chunky/14 ply yarn

I used Hayfield Super Chunky With Wool in shade 0053 – Hollyhocks (Main Colour - MC).

Yarn in a contrasting color (CC) mustard - for the stitched letter in the same yarn weight.

Needles

Set of 10.00mm (US 15) 20" or 24" circular knitting needles.

• SKILLS

Level – Easy

This is an easy level knitting pattern and the techniques involved are the knit stitch, purl stitch, increasing, and decreasing.

• SIZING

Jason is a medium-sized dog and weighs about 21 kilos.

  • The back piece of the sweater measures – length = 28′′ / width = 12′′
  • Chest piece – length = 23′′ / width = 9′′
  • Sleeves – length = 3′′ / width = 6′′

To adapt for your dog – measure the length and width of the back/chest and adjust the pattern according to their measurements.

Oh my god. I have been wanting to make dog a sweater forever and as his name is potter, this was perfect! I managed to knit the letter in instead of stitching after and I had to adjust for him being a smaller dog but it went quite smoothly!
